Hydrographics is a process of decorating objects with 3D geometries, made of various materials, typically rigid ones such as wood, plastics, or metals, though also elastic materials like rubbers and elastomers.
The process is artisanal, but it is becoming increasingly industrialized.
How is the Hydrographics process carried out?
The hydrographics process involves transferring a design or pattern to a three-dimensional surface using water. First, a film with the desired design is prepared. Then, the film is placed in water, where it is activated and adheres to the surface to be customized, completely covering it. Finally, the design is dried and sealed to ensure durability. This process is ideal for applying complex patterns to objects with various shapes and materials.
Is Hydrographics an easy and simple process?
Hydrographics is a process that is completed in seconds, but in order to achieve correct decoration, the surface to be decorated must first be treated, and then protected with one or more layers of varnish. As a result, the process is delicate and complex, as a mistake at any step may require repairs or even repeating the steps.
